Haydn's work experience

Year 12 student, Haydn, completed work experience at the end of term with the North East Learning Trust's communications team. The team run all NELT schools' websites and Haydn had the chance to write an article for the Teesdale School website.

Haydn chose to write about a concert he'd attended in May - check it out below!

The Most Interesting Thing That’s Happened in My Life Recently: Beyoncé

On Thursday 23rd May 2023, me and two fellow Sixth Formers travelled to Sunderland to see Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour. The concert lasted about 3 hours. I then used this experience for my English Language coursework, to write my Original Writing Piece based on a review of the concert I found online.

Beyoncé kicked off the show with the ballad “Dangerously In Love 2”, followed by three other ballads, before moving into the ‘Renaissance’, when she sung the opening track of the album “I’M THAT GIRL”. She ended the show with the album’s closing track “SUMMER RENAISSANCE”, which, in my opinion, was the perfect way to end. It has become a competition between cities as to who can sing the outro to “Love On Top”, the loudest. Sunderland didn’t take this competition lightly, as they definitely out-sang Edinburgh (the city previous to this), however, we were swiftly overtaken by Paris.

There was a high buzz surrounding the beginning of the Tour which followed the release of her album titled ‘Renaissance’ which, at the time, shattered the record for the most streams in a single day with over 43 million streams. This is also notably Beyoncé’s first solo tour in six years. Her clothes were designed by many designers, the main being the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin. All outfits were accompanied by custom jewellery provided by Tiffany & Co., for whom Beyoncé is house ambassador.

Beyoncé constantly reinvents herself in ways that are often surprising to people but somehow still manages to keep ‘Beyoncé’ amongst her many versions which is something to admire and celebrate as she enters her 25th year of being on top of the world. This tour caters for people of all types who are interested in all genres of music from the nostalgia-inducing tracks such as “Get Me Bodied” and “MY POWER” to the sass and bluster of “Diva” and “HEATED”.

All of this inspired me to write my coursework and with the help from my Language teacher, I managed to write a review of the concert and the tour in general. Now I can just hope that the examiner will also share my love for Beyoncé so I can get a good mark.

Haydn did a great job over during the work experience week and we wish him the best of luck for the future!
