Teesdale Sixth Form is once again celebrating the outstanding achievements of our students. In total, 46% of our students achieved at least one A* or Distinction*.

There were, as ever, some exceptional individual performances, but with 35% of the cohort achieving straight A grades or better it seems difficult not to mention them all. So, Grace Tarpey 3x A*s, Katleho Semuli 3x A*s, Jonathan Proud 2x A*s and 2x As, Liam Sams 2x A*s and one A, Eve Buxton 2x A*s and one A, Oliver Welsby 2x A*s and one A. Holly Teward 1x A*, 1xDist*, 1xA, Alice Crossling 2x A*s, Clara Dent 1xDist* and 2x As, Nikki Brown A* and 2x As, Evie Scott A* and 2x As, Liam Walshaw A* and 2x As, Oliver Askwith 3x As.

Further performances of note are Rachel Atkinson 2xA*, 1xB, Gaby Hawcroft 1xA*, 1xDist, 1xB, Libby Wheeler 1xA*, 1xA, 1xB.

Our students now move on to the next stage of their educational and employment journeys with a variety of exciting futures in front of them.

Nikki Brown will be taking up a place on an Aerospace Engineering Apprenticeship having achieved one of a handful of places on an early careers programme with over 5,000 applicants.

Evie Scott has secured a place at Cambridge University to read Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and Oliver Welsby will be studying medicine at Newcastle University.

Education, like all areas of society, has been hugely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, and students faced unprecedented challenges this year. The decision to cancel exams as we entered the national lockdown in January 2021 meant students faced an uncertain future about how their results would be decided. They showed incredible flexibility and resilience as they adapted to the fast-changing picture and stayed focused on being the best that they could be.

We are proud of our students because of the effort they put in and who they are each and every day; this is the true measure of their success. More so than ever before students have achieved what they have by working hard every day on a number of different assessment tasks stretching over weeks and months. Their results were forged in one long continuous exam that tested them in a myriad of different ways.

So, congratulations to our amazing students who have achieved some superb exam results but, in the process, have achieved so much more. We are immensely proud of you!
