This week saw the beginnings of some exciting plans for the Rotary Interact group, led by Year 12 student, Keira.

During the pandemic,  it was difficult for the charity-focused group to meet and involve different year groups in their charity work. On Tuesday, members of the group met with representatives from Barnard Castle Rotary group to plan out events for this academic year.

Top of the agenda is a partnership with St Christopher’s school for girls in Kenya. The first phase will involve some peace advocacy training, delivered virtually by an organisation based in Scotland that will see students from Teesdale and St Christopher’s connect via zoom calls.

Once this training has been completed, students will be planning a sustainability project and developing cross-cultural exchange with students in Kenya. This exciting project has been partly funded by the British Council and Connecting Classrooms initiative. We look forward to seeing how it progresses.
