Mewhort Scholarship winners announced!

Once again, Teesdale School and Sixth Form are proud to announce the winners of the Mewhort Scholarship 2020. The fantastic scheme is open to our Year 13 students each year, offering a top award of £1,500 for each year of university study and six other £1,000 awards.

All applicants this year had performed fantastically, making the task of choosing winners very difficult for the trustees. After much deliberation, Ethan Rawlins bagged the top prize after he achieved 2 A*s and 2 As in his A levels and really impressed the panel of judges with his passion for science.

Ethan will be going on to study natural sciences at Durham University. He is particularly interested in green chemistry and the need to make chemical reactions more reproducible, scalable, safe and efficient to ensure sustainability for the earth's resources. The judges were impressed with Ethan's engagement with the subject and how enthusiastic he was towards science.

Our congratulations also go to Sam Arundel, Cal Baker, Isabella Campbell, Jake Knight, Alice Lawson and Bethany Windle who received the £1,000 prize for each year of their study at university.

Head of Sixth Form, Dr Simon Henderson, said: "The Mewhort Scholarship continues to be an amazing scheme for our students and is just one of the many opportunities that we are able to offer."

We would like to say a huge thanks to the Mewhort Trust and trustees who attended the interview day. Like the trustees, everyone here at Teesdale Sixth Form looks forward to hearing about the future achievements of this year's scholarship recipients.
