Our excellent art department created some marvelous pieces of work last half term with our talented students.

Our Year 7 artists have been working hard to develop their watercolour skills, whilst studying a project based on sweets. After looking at the work of American painter, Wayne Thiebaud, students first explored different watercolour techniques, before applying these skills to create their own gumball machine paintings.

Mrs Bell said: “Year 7 have worked so hard on their gumball machines and they should be very proud because they have created some fantastic pieces of work. Their painting skills have come on leaps and bounds during this project and we are excited to see them explore different materials in the second half of this project.”

Our Year 9 artists have explored lino printing as part of their natural forms project. They began by carving their designs into a piece of lino, before printing it in a variety of colours. Students kept their images as line drawings to create really striking prints.

Mrs Bell said: “This was a new technique for students, which they took really well to. All students were quickly able to create some really successful designs, and the colours are so eye-catching.”
