Science Ambassadors train primary students

Earlier this week, we were delighted to host 30 pupils and five teachers from our local primary schools as part of our primary science ambassador training event.

Our newly trained team of Science Ambassadors joined Dr Lorraine Coghill of Durham University and the Ogden Trust and Dr Jenny Search from the Institute of Physics to support the primary students in learning a range of practical demonstrations. The students also gave encouragement to help the younger children develop their presentation skills and prompted them to come up with ideas on how to develop science in their schools.

The primary pupils were enthusiastic participants - keen to learn and every school team gave creative presentations at the end of the day about the demonstrations they had learned.

There was thanks and high praise for our students from the primary staff who were impressed by their enthusiasm and support.

All newly trained primary ambassadors received a badge and certificate and our ambassadors received certificates acknowledging their contribution to the day - well done!
