In amongst their end of year assessments, our fantastic Year 12 biologists opted to take part in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad.
The Intermediate Biology Olympiad tests students’ biology knowledge and encourages them to continue studying the biosciences beyond school. 6,580 students from 409 schools worldwide participated this year.
We are very pleased to announce that three of our students – Lucy Deere, Cameron Hughes and Catherine Soulsby-Dryburgh achieved enough marks to be awarded the ‘Highly Commended’ category. Isobel Hutchinson achieved a Bronze certificate and Bethany Windle a Silver certificate.
A huge congratulations also goes to Emily Sams, who achieved a Gold certificate! This places her in the top 8% of entrants.
The science department would like to extend our congratulations to all the students who took part – they have done extremely well, especially at an already busy time of year.
All the participants received a free membership to BioNet and an electronic subscription to The Biologist magazine. Well done to them all!
