Some of our talented music students have been fortunate enough to be invited to participate in a prestigious composition and performance project in collaboration with Durham Cathedral.

The performance will take place in February and in preparation, our students (pictured above) attended a workshop with composer, Paul Smith, at Ushaw College. Students created a movement of a choral work on the theme Lux Aeterna (Eternal Light), which they will develop and eventually perform, supported by professional musicians.

Paul, a member of internationally renowned acapella group Voces8, was full of praise for our students and said that their work was the start of "something amazing". He was impressed by the breadth of musical influences that they drew on as well as their exceptional musical ability and empathetic responses to the theme.

Congratulations to all involved!
