Heather to receive prestigious Diana Award

We are delighted to announce that Year 12 student, Heather McLachlan, will soon be the proud recipient of a Diana Award.

Heather is one of just five people across the north east to receive the award this year (and 1 of 42 individuals across the UK).

Established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, The Diana Award is a prestigious accolade a young person can receive for social action or humanitarian work.

She was nominated by Music at the Heart of Teesdale for her volunteering, mentoring and fundraising activities as a member of Cream Tees.  As part of her work, Heather has supported Patrick Langdon in running Longsword sessions at a number of local schools, including Teesdale School, and she has forged links between young musicians and local care home residents. The Diana Award builds on her ‘Young Achievers’ Pride of Teesdale Award in recognising the work she has quietly undertake in many different areas of her community.

Heather will receive her certificate at a presentation ceremony at the Leeds College of Music on Friday 28 September.

Congratulations Heather - we are very proud of you!
