On Tuesday 19 June, our Year 12 physics student, Daniel Gaskin, received his award for 'Schools' Physicist of 2018' at The Ogden Trust event held at Durham University.
Daniel earned the award for his exceptional talents in physics and was one of only 39 students from across the north east to be awarded.
Miss Hope, Head of Physics at Teesdale School and Sixth Form commented: "Dan is always modest in his achievements and this is a wonderful opportunity for us to tell him how privileged we feel to teach him. We could not ask for a better role model than Dan."
The Ogden Trust organises the annual event to recognise outstanding efforts and achievements in schools, projects and programmes that are committed to enhancing physics teaching and learning.
At the celebration event, award winners were able to discuss with current Durham University students what it is like to study physics at university. Steph Bartle, a current Durham PhD student, delivered the keynote speech where she highlighted the important role of physics research.
Charley Phillips, Program Officer, lead the official presentations commending the nominees on their hard work and dedication to their studies.
Congratulations Daniel!
