On Thursday, eleven teams made up of staff, students, parents and Interact club members joined us for our Sixth Form Rotary Interact quiz night, battling it out for the top prize!

Our Rotary Interact group organised the wonderful event in a bid to raise money for Help Refugees - an organisation that seeks to provide help to those who are fleeing war and persecution.

Prizes were kindly donated by individuals and local businesses which were raffled off to the lucky winners. Guests were also treated to an incredible buffet that the students prepared. Overall, it was the maths department team (with a couple of interlopers drafted in from history and geography) who were triumphant - well done!

Chair of the Interact group, Bethany Windle, said: "We felt it was really important at this time of year to do something for those who are not going to enjoy a festive season. We are very grateful to all the businesses and individuals who kindly donated raffle prizes and to all those who came out to support the evening and take part in the quiz."

Dr Simon Henderson, Head of Sixth Form, commented: "This is another example of the superb work that the Interact group does. We are so proud that ours is a sixth form with a social conscience that works hard not only to achieve academically but to try and help and inspire in the local and wider community.

"I think it particularly important to recognise those students who work behind the scenes to make these events happen - preparing food, washing dishes and cleaning for hours. They show their incredible leadership by serving others."

Thank you to everyone who participated in the quiz night - in total, we raised over £350! If you would also like to contribute, the school office will accept any donations, otherwise, you can donate directly on the Help Refugees website.
