TEACHER OF MATHEMATICS

Full Time - Required for September 2019 with earlier start possible.

MPR / UPR Scale - plus additional allowance for the exceptional candidate

Nestled in Barnard Castle in the spectacular Teesdale countryside and imprinted with the historic values of the Dales and our close-knit community, Teesdale School is a place where traditional values of kindness, respect and hard work take precedence. Within 30 minutes of both Darlington and Durham and just over an hour from York and Newcastle, our idyllic yet convenient location affords our staff an enviable quality of life.

Our school teaches 575 children across Key Stages 3 and 4 and post-16. Our small size means that as a teacher here you can really get to know your students; know who they are; their aspirations, ideas, talents and dreams, bringing out the best in them and helping to champion their ambitions and give them a great start in life.

We joined The North East Learning Trust in September 2016, a successful multi-academy trust led by The Academy at Shotton Hall, which has two consecutive outstanding grades, an outstanding SCITT and three national leaders of education. This partnership began with a clear focus on our school becoming truly outstanding. That journey is well underway. The GCSE results in 2018 placed us well within the top 10 in the whole of the North East in all key government measures of performance.

We are looking to appoint an excellent Teacher of Mathematics who would like to work with and contribute to the development of highly motivated students.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching engaging lessons which help students develop their mathematical ambitions.

About the role:

Mathematics is a high performing subject at Teesdale School with rapidly improving outcomes. In 2018, we were delighted with our students who secured exceptional GCSE results for the second year running. 10% of students obtaining grade 9 and the overall progress 8 score in maths was +0.36. Our sixth form students excel and go on to secure places on maths related courses at Oxford, Cambridge and other prestigious institutions. Our students are a pleasure to work with and this is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate.

We expect all our students to be challenged, to be inspired and to achieve excellent outcomes.  As a teacher you will be a key member of a close, dynamic team of skilled maths specialists who work collaboratively in delivering outstanding lessons and opportunities which inspire our students. The successful candidate will join us for September 2019 and will have the opportunity to teach all ability ranges.

We would be delighted to hear from you if you are:

  • An excellent teacher who enjoys working across the full ability range.
  • Collaborative, building strong professional relationships.
  • Able to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential.
  • Ready to continue the development of an outstanding and vibrant Mathematics Department
