Last week, a talented group of Year 7 and 10 musicians watched a live broadcast of a concert and workshop from the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, a group of the country’s most talented jazz instrumentalists.
The performance was hosted by Risedale College, North Yorkshire as part of the annual Swaledale Festival, and included music of different eras, including a composition by one of the performers.
Our musicians enjoyed seeing the instruments they are learning to play showcased, hearing about how the performers had chosen their instruments and how often they practice; some were even inspired to try a new instrument!
Thanks go to the Durham Music Service, North Yorkshire Music Action Zone, NYJO and the Swaledale Festival for making this event possible.
