Teacher of Geography

Nestled in Barnard Castle in the spectacular Teesdale countryside and imprinted with the historic values of the Dales and our close-knit community, Teesdale School is a place where traditional values of kindness, respect and hard work take precedence. Within 30 minutes of both Darlington and Durham and just over an hour from York and Newcastle, our idyllic yet convenient location affords our staff an enviable quality of life.

Our school teaches 600 children across Key Stages 3 and 4 and a small sixth form. Our small size means that as a teacher here you can really get to know your students; knowing who they are; their aspirations, ideas, talents and dreams, bringing out the best in them and helping to champion their ambitions and give them a great start in life.

Last year we joined the North East Learning Trust, a successful multi-academy trust led by The Academy at Shotton Hall, which has two consecutive outstanding grades, an outstanding SCITT and three national leaders of education. This partnership has begun with a clear focus on our school becoming truly outstanding.

We are looking to appoint a teacher of geography with effect from September 2017:

As a teacher of geography you will need to have a passion and a drive to inspire students of all ages and ability as well as a commitment to the love of geography and a willingness to promote all aspect of geography learning. You will be need to play an active role in raising the profile of geography and ensure your curriculum provision is appropriate, challenging, and inspirational for all. You must take pride in your students and be an outstanding practitioner who places their students at the heart of all decisions. In return, working in the geography department at Teesdale School provides you with the opportunity to work with amazing students, in a supportive small department that allows you to play your role in inspiring the minds of tomorrow.
