Fun on the slopes

While the rest of us have been under our umbrellas battling the cold, 40 lucky students from Teesdsle School have been enjoying a rather more exciting aspect of winter conditions on the ski slopes in Courmayeur, Italy.

Both beginners and advanced skiers received five hours tuition a day on the mountains followed by a full apres ski programme including a pizza night, disco, ice skating and quizzes.

During the trip Lucy Deere was assessed for her skiing skills and is now in the running to receive one of just 10 scholarships awarded each season. This scholarship could provide Lucy with £10,000 worth of instructor training to BASI Level 2. Her skills will now go on to be assessed at the Snowzone at Castleford with 39 other finalists.

Teesdale School has had two other past students achieve this award (Alice Wigg and Zoe Embleton) and we have everything crossed that Lucy will be successful - but even to get this far is amazing!

Well done to Lucy and to all the students who participated in the trip - you have been a credit to yourselves and Teesdale School.
