In conjunction with our energetic neighbours, the TCR Hub, Teesdale School is supporting students to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme in 2018.
The TCR Hub holds their own DofE license following seven years of successful delivery via Durham County Council and has appointed a DofE leader, Wayne Collins, who has extensive experience of leading groups.
The Hub is currently recruiting at all levels - bronze, silver and gold - with a view to beginning the award in January 2018 with expedition training starting in February.
Anyone who is interested needs to attend a meeting at the Hub on the Wednesday 6 December at 5:30pm. There are limited places, so the sooner you register interest and attend the initial meeting, the more likely it is you will gain a place on this prestigious programme.
If you are lucky enough to be chosen, you will complete three sections in addition to an expedition - skill, volunteering and physical. Many young people are already doing activities that count towards the award without realising it, so it might not be as time consuming as you think and, contrary to popular belief, you do not have to be a 'sporty' person to take part, you just need to be energetic, enthusiastic and keen to learn.
To register your interest, please speak to Mrs Brennan or Rachel Tweddle at The TCR HUB.
