Twelve students from Year 11 travelled to Cambridge University at the start of term for a three day residential visit.
The students stayed in St John’s College in individual study bedrooms and attended a series of seminars and lectures during their time at the university.
Inspired by the surroundings of the college and the history of this prestigious institution, students finished the visit determined to work hard in order to achieve the grades to give them a chance of studying at an elite university in the future.
Indeed inspiration for some of those who attended the trip is very close to home. Laura Turner’s sister starts studying Languages at Cambridge this year and Elsbeth Carr’s sister Caitlin is a second year English undergraduate at the university. Nina Holguin’s sister Amy is currently at Oxford studying Archaeology.
This Teesdale tradition of sending students to Oxbridge is one that we are extremely proud of and we hope that those who visited this year will be booking in for a much extended study experience in the future.
