What is Play Every Day in May?
We know that there is a lot of evidence to show that regular practice on your instrument or voice is crucial to making the best progress you can. We also know that it’s hard to find the time and the motivation to practice, as other things can take priority. So, we’d like to invite you, as a musician or singer, to join our challenge and Play Every Day in May!
What do I need to do?
Quite simply, you need to commit to playing your instrument or singing for at least 10 minutes every day in May. This could be independent practice time, band or choir rehearsals, practice with a friend or family member or even performing in front of an audience.
What is the benefit for me?
The intention is to help you form good habits around regular practice, building it in to be an important part of your day. We hope you’ll enjoy the challenge and feel motivated, and that you’ll notice a difference in your musical confidence and skills.
How can my family support me?
We’d love for your to share your challenge with your family – perhaps they would like to listen to you play or sing and give you feedback, or maybe even join in with you!
We’d like someone at home to ‘sign off’ each day of your challenge to show you’ve kept on track.
How can my music teacher support me?
If you attend choir, band, keyboard club or any other music lessons or activities in school, that can count as your playing that day and your teacher can sign your challenge card.
What happens at the end of the challenge?
There will be certificates and prizes to reward your achievements.
How do I join in?
See Mrs McGrath or Mr Harvey for a challenge card, let whoever is at home know you’re taking part, and get ready for a very musical month of May!
