Steven Clayton

Steven joined Teesdale in September 2020 from a large secondary school and sixth form in Stockton-on-Tees where he had worked for 9 years; 6 of which were as Head of Mathematics. His responsibilities as Assistant Headteacher at Teesdale include whole school data analysis, timetabling and careers provision.

Steven trained as a teacher in 2008 following completion of degrees in first Sport Management and secondly, after a spell travelling in Australia and then working at Middlesbrough Football Club, in Mathematics.

Steven is a keen sportsman, although he confesses to following it a lot more than playing it now. His main passion in teaching is working to develop student confidence and getting them to believe that things are possible, even if they appear to be out of reach. He is also keen to develop the use of technology in education to increase the effectiveness of teaching and learning. Steven has lots of experience of helping other schools set up and maintain successful mathematics departments and encouraging local collaboration for the benefit of all students. He is looking forward to widening that domain by working with all subjects here at Teesdale School.
