Alastair French

Alastair joined Teesdale School back in 2001, after completing two years at Malet Lambert School in Kingston upon Hull as a Physical Education teacher.

Alastair had previously completed a physical education SCITT course at Thomas Telford School, West Midlands and doing a BSc Hons in sports science at Liverpool John Moores. During his training he spent six months in America working in a young offender’s juvenile detention centre in St. Louis, Missouri as a sports teacher.

At Teesdale School, Alastair has had a number of pastoral responsibilities including Head of Newton House and Assistant Director of Sixth Form. He is currently Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for behaviour management, with the responsibility of making a major contribution to the raising of standards of achievement at Key Stage 4 through leading and managing intervention and learning strategies, and the oversight of pastoral welfare of students in Key Stage 4. He also oversees the monitoring of students’ attendance and leads and monitors safeguarding issues as well as leading staff in the Key Stage 4 team in their development of strategies to address any underperformance and barriers to learning.
