Teesdale School and Sixth Form vacancies

Mike Bettison

Mike Bettison has been a governor at Teesdale School since 2008 taking a particular interest in the arts. He is also a director of the Turrets Youth Theatre, The Village Halls Consortium and a trustee of Bowes Village Hall.

Mike's creative talent is vast and in demand. He is the artistic director of Blaize, a community arts company which has been working in rural areas since 1980.

For the Music@the Heart of Teesdale youth music project he is the lead researcher. This provides material for the youth band ‘Cream Tees’ as well as for ‘Notes from Teesdale’ which he performs with Rosie Cross. In general, this targets an elderly audience featuring music, song and stories from the Teesdale area and gathers further information. He has established a digital archive including recordings of local memories.

Mike also runs regular ‘Singing for the Brain’ sessions for the Alzheimer’s Society in Barnard Castle, Middleton-in-Teesdale and Bishop Auckland.
